Bio:
Anagnostopoulos is an associate professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), faculty member of the Information Characterization & Exploitation (ICE) Laboratory at FIT and an affiliate faculty of the Machine Learning Laboratory (ML2) at UCF.
He received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras in Patras, Greece, in 1994 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from UCF in Orlando, Florida, in 1997 and 2001 respectively.
He has held previous positions as a software engineer in the Information Technology department at Lucent Technologies/Agere Systems (1997-2001), as a visiting assistant professor in the Computer Science Department at UCF (2002), and as an assistant professor in his current department (2003-2008).
His research interests span the area of Machine Learning (ML) and include Artificial Neural Networks, Population-based Evolution of ML models, Support Vector Machines, other Kernel-based ML Methods, Outlier Detection and Data Visualization. His research outcomes have been featured in more than 80 conference papers (some of them invited), journal papers and book chapters.
Finally, Dr. Anagnostopoulos is the recipient of the 2007 Kerry Bruce Clark Award for Excellence in Teaching at FIT and is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
